This beautiful antique clamp is hand carved of ivory and has a lovely old patina and grain pattern. It's English and dates to the early 19th century. The top has a red velvet pincushion and it looks to be the original cushion.
Aside from a couple of small hairline surface cracks, the condition is excellent with no chips or loss. The cushion is intact and the screw screws down tightly and holds for the entire length. It measures 4 3/4" tall (with the screw half way in as shown). This clamp is shown in plate 75 of Sylvia Groves' book "The History of Needlework Tool And Accessories".
