This figural antique needle case is carved of bone in the shape of a parasol or umbrella. The handle is carved in the form of a hand and holds a glass Stanhope viewer. It has 6 images and is called Recuerdo de La Coruña (Memories of La Coruña). This is a seaside town in Spain and "La Coruña" is also painted on the side of needle case.

The center is nicely carved and pierced and the bottom is also a crochet hook. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage and it screws together securely. It has a nice old patina and measures 5 1/4" long. Though it commemorates a place in Spain, it was probably made in France for their tourist market.
