Ornate Antique Carved Ivory Tape Measure * Circa 1840

This gorgeous antique tape measure is hand carved of real ivory. The top has an intricately petaled flower design with serrated edges and the bottom has a beaded border. The pale blue silk ribbon tape is marked in inches and is original (starts at 2″). A twist of the top rewinds the tape and it works perfectly.

It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage and the patina and ivory grain are lovely. It measures 1 1/4″ high and the top is 1″ in diameter. It was from an English sewing workbox with matching tools. (See my other website items for the matching thread waxer & emery)
