Antique Figural Carved Squirrel Crochet Hook * English * Circa 1870

This wonderful crochet hook is hand carved of bone and has a lovely old patina. The top is carved with a little squirrel working on his nut and he is standing on a carved pedestal. The shank is carved with diagonal twists that have been accented with red and blue paint. A hand is carved at the bottom of the shank, holding the hook. The hook is about the same size as an American size B (2.00 mm).

<br><br>Other than some loss of the color, the condition is excellent with no chips or damage and the hook is intact. It measures 6 5/8" long.  It was bought in England, so I'm assuming it's English.
