Antique Carved Bone Egg Sewing Kit & Thimble English * Circa 1880

This antique egg is carved of bone with wonderful turned and pierced details. It unscrews in the middle and inside is a tall carved ivory thimble, a bone silk winder, a tiny bone stiletto and a packet of needles. The egg has a couple of tiny hairline surface cracks, but is in otherwise excellent condition. It screws together securely and measures 2 1/8″ long x 1 1/2″ in diameter. The patina is lovely.

The thimble has a slim band carved with roundels and dimpled knurling. The condition is perfect with no chips, cracks or other damage. It is 1″ high and about an American child’s size 5 (13.4 mm diameter opening).  The other contents are also in great condition.
