Antique Silver & Tortoise Shell Serving Fork & Knife * C1890

These beautiful and unusual serving utensils have silver handles and a fork and butter knife made of real tortoise shell. The handles have small French silver hallmarks for 800/1000 pure silver. The handles are embossed with rose and lily designs with acanthus leaf and scallop shell motifs. The knife would be good for butter or a soft cake and the fork for serving olives or pickles.

I’ve never seen utensils like this before and they’re quite striking. The tortoise shell is beautifully patterned and intact. They both measure about 7 3/8″ long. Aside from a small dent in the silver at the top of the backside of the fork, the condition of the silver is excellent with no other damage.
