This sweet little oval disc style pin cushion is made of real ivory and was obviously made as a souvenir of Dieppe, France. The top is engraved and stained (scrimshaw style) with “Souvenir de Dieppe”. The bottom disc is smooth and the ivory grain and patina are lovely. Pins were stuck in the “sandwich” style cushion around the center.
It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage. The cushion is intact and original and it measures 2 1/4″ x 1 1/2″. One end has a little cord to carry or hang it with. Dieppe is a coastal village in Normandy, northern France and was world famous for their fabulous ivory carvings.
