These antique silk winders are carved of real ivory in 8 lobed snowflake or flower shapes. They measure about 1 1/4″ in diameter and were purchased in England.
The condition is excellent with no chips or other damage and they have a lovely old patina and ivory grain pattern. One like this is shown on p. 163 of Gay Ann Rogers’ book The Illustrated History of Needlework Tools.
