This wonderful thimble is solid 18 kt gold and was made to commemorate the 40th year of Queen Elizabeth’s reign. It was a limited edition of only 10 thimbles and one of them was presented to Her Majesty. It has an interlocking band set with faceted diamonds and rubies (genuine). The band has the 18 Kt English gold hallmarks for Birmingham 1991 and the maker’s mark for James Swann. It has daisy knurling and is of outstanding quality. It weighs 12.88 grams.
The condition is mint and it’s in the original velvet presentation box. It was commissioned by the Thimble Guild in London and was sold in 1992 for $3000.00. The value of the gold alone is currently about $1380.00. It is about an American size 9-10 (16.2 mm diameter opening).
