This little antique aide memoire or notebook has covers of mother of pearl. The front has an applied silver shield cartouche (not engraved). It hangs from a chain and the top has a ring to slip over a finger, called a finger ring chatelaine. A second chain holds a slim ivory pencil that slips into loops on the side. It has 5 ivory “pages” that swivel out from the side.
The pencil has a metal nozzle at the bottom fitted with a lead. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or loss. The aide memoire is 2 1/2″ high by 1 3/8″ wide and it measures 5 1/2″ long from the top of the ring to the bottom of the mother of pearl notebook.
