Exceptional Carved Antique Mother of Pearl Pin Disc * Circa 1850

This is the most wonderful example of a Victorian mother of pearl disc style pin cushion I've ever seen. Both sides are beautifully carved and pierced with delicate floral designs. Pins were stuck in the rose silk "sandwich" cushion in the middle.
The mother of pearl is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage. The silk cushion is original and a bit fragile and insect nibbled, but pretty much intact. It measures 1 1/2" in diameter....

Antique Figural Lady Silver Needle Case * Circa 1850

This ornate antique needle case is solid silver and is in the form of a lady in national costume holding a veil or scarf at the back. It is hallmarked with the German 13 lothiges mark (.812 silver) and the unicorn head hallmark of the city of Gmünd (Germany). She's beautifully detailed.
She has some minor denting in the skirt but the overall condition is very nice. She stands on a flat base and measures 2 3/8" high....

Early & Unusual Antique Carved Thread Barrel * Circa 1820

This gorgeous antique cotton or thread barrel is carved of cow bone with pierced sides and raised turned bands. There's a hole in the side to feed the thread through. A bone knob on the top cranks in the thread. It measures 1" in diameter and is 2 3/8" high counting the crank (1 3/4" high without). The spool inside is also carved of bone and is still wrapped with silk thread.
The condition is excellent with no chips or damage and everything screws together well. It has a fabulous old patina. This is a really special piece from my collection....

Antique French Silver Inlaid Ivory Snuff Box * Circa 1780

This fabulous box is carved of real ivory. It was made to hold snuff and it's beautifully inlaid and decorated. The top is inset with a disc of mother of pearl that has been inlaid in silver with a quiver and bow design surrounded by a wreath of roses. The sides have rose garlands and leaf designs with rope style borders. Some of the silvering is missing on the edges of the top as this was grasped to open the box and the top is a tight fit. This style of decoration is French and dates from the mid-late 18th century.
Aside from a hairline crack at the side of the top (see photo) the condition is excellent with no other damage. It measures...

Antique Heart Cased Sterling Silver Sewing Set * 1892 Hallmarks

This ornate Victorian English silver set is extensive and all matching. The 7 sterling tools include a stiletto, button hook, crochet hook, 2 pairs of embroidery scissors, a bodkin and a thimble. The pieces have the sterling hallmarks for Birmingham 1892 and the maker's mark for Levi & Salaman. The thimble has the maker's mark for Henry Griffith & Sons. Levi & Salaman didn't make thimbles and bought them from other English manufacturers. I'm convinced the pieces are all original to the set.
The larger pair of scissors have a repair on one bow (see close up photo), but it is well done, strong and hard to even see. All of the tools are in ...

Gorgeous Antique Dieppe Ivory Knotting Shuttle * C1790

This fabulous ivory knotting shuttle is simply breathtaking. The carving is some of the finest I've ever seen, even for Dieppe ivory. Both sides are deeply carved and delicately pierced. Each side has rather busty ladies surrounded with winged cherubs, birds and detailed flowers. The border is embellished with carved feathers. I'm pretty sure it's all carved of one piece of ivory as there appears to be no separation underneath between the post and the two sides.
It has damage on one side, a crack that has been repaired (see arrow on 3rd photo). The condition is otherwise excellent with no loss. It is larger than most, measuring almost 6"...
