These little matching antique silk winders are carved in a very practical shape that could hold lots of thread. They look like little spools and measure almost 1 1/2" by 1" . They have little slits in one corner for securing the silk. Both are in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or other damage and they have nice old ivory patina and grain patterns....

This little antique egg is smoothly carved of ivory and contains a little ivory thimble. The top of the egg has two faint hairline cracks, but still screws together well and securely. The condition is otherwise excellent. It measures 1 3/4" long and 3/4" in diameter. The tiny ivory thimble has smooth sides and carved knurling on the top. It's in excellent condition with no holes, chips or other damage. It is about an American child's size 1 (10.7 mm diameter opening)....

This special set of steel crochet hooks is in wooden box that had been veneered with real natural tortoise shell. The opening is veneered with ivory and ivory forms the shelf that holds the hooks. The cartouche on the top (not personalized) and the hinge and push button and all sterling silver (tested). The handle is carved of mother of pearl and has a brass mechanism on the end that the steel crochet hooks fit into. It then screws down to secure them and it works well. Ornate Antique Carved Tortoise Shell Netting Case * Circa 1800
This ornate netting case is carved of real tortoise shell and the quality of the carving is lovely. It was Chinese export work for the English market, early 19th century. The sides of the case are hand carved with flowers surrounding panels with landscapes and scenes from Chinese life. The ends have layered chrysanthemum motifs. The natural patterns in the tortoise shell and the old patina are gorgeous. Inside are tortoise shell netting tools. It's in fabulous condition with no chips, cracks or other damage and the top fits on perfectly. Closed, the case measures 6" long. This antique carved ivory piece is a pin cushion in disc form. This allowed the pins to be pushed flush into the sides so it wouldn't snag other items in the work bag. The cushion around the sides is silk and is stuck with some old hand made steel pins. Both sides are carved with concentric circles and black scrimshaw style inking accentuates the center and border. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks or other damage. The silk cushion is intact and original. It measures 1 1/8" in diameter and has a silk wrist loop on top. The ivory grain pattern and patina are lovely....

Rare Antique Silver Corset Vesta or Match Safe * Circa 1890
This antique silver plated vesta is in the form of a lady's corset, a bit risqué for the time. The top is hinged and it opens and snaps closes solidly. The striker is at the bottom. The condition is excellent with no dents or other damage and measures 1 5/8" high by 1 3/8" wide. The silver plating is rubbed at the hinge and it looks like it was plated over copper or brass. The side has a ring so it could be attached to a chatelaine or watch chain. The top has faint engraving "L. Turner" but it was hard to photograph. It was bought in England.
