Antique Carved Ivory Open Top Billiken Thimble

This interesting thimble is hand carved of real ivory and was based on the Billiken figure popular as a doll and good luck charm. (*See history & pics below). When worn it looks like its arms are wrapped around your finger. It's shaped so that your nail goes through the opening. The condition is excellent with no chips, cracks, holes or other damage.

Antique Sterling Filigree Needle Book * Circa1800

This lacy piece is solid sterling silver (tested) and handmade of delicate filigree. It's English and dates to the late 18th or early 19th century. The hinges connecting the front and back to the spine are strong and original and the latch works perfectly. It has an unusual inset center section of little star stamped discs.
The filigree is perfect with no breaks or loss. The silk lined interior is all original and it contains 4 woolen pages trimmed with couched gold thread. Exceptional Antique Cut Steel Knotting Shuttle* C1790

This fabulous knotting shuttle has lacy patterns on both sides that have all been hand cut out of sheets of steel. The detail is some of the finest I've ever seen. Even the post has been delicately pierced with scroll designs.
The condition is excellent with no loss or damage and the steel still has most of its original polished surface. It measures 4 3/4" long and 1 5/8" wide. This is a museum quality piece. One just like this, which is in a French museum, is shown on p. 243 of Old-Time Tools & Toys of Needlework by Gertrude Whiting....

Rare Antique Mother of Pearl Mirrored Spool * C1830

The top of this early spool holder is carved of luminous mother of pearl and inset with a mirror. It has a beaded border around the mirror and dates to the William IV period. The bottom is also made of mother of pearl and the metal shank pulls apart to allow a ball of thread to be slipped on.
The condition is excellent with no chips or cracks. It measures 1 5/8" high by almost 1 1/2" in diameter and was once part of what must have been a spectacular English workbox. Antique Cherub English Sterling Embroidery Scissors * Hallmarked

These little sterling handled embroidery scissors have ornate scrolling designs on the shanks and bows and cupids or angels in the center of the shanks. They're marked with the English sterling hallmarks for Birmingham 1903 and have the maker's mark for Levi & Salaman.
The steel blades have intact points and they cut but could use sharpening. The silver is in excellent condition with no dents, repairs or other damage. They measure 3 3/4" long....
